DC FanDome 2021 News Recap: DC Universe to a Promising Future?

Image
“ The bright future is (hopefully) in progress.”   The DC Comics’ beloved virtual event is back! Now with more news and announcements to offer, DC FanDome 2021 holds its global event again. The event officially commences at 10am PT on October 16, 2021 (00.00 WIB, October 17). We, as the (super) hungry (and desperate) DC fans, cannot wait for the bright future that might be coming through next year ’s movie line-up, starting  with Matt Reeves’ The Batman (March 2022), to Jaume Collet-Serra’s Black Adam (July 2022), Andy Muschietti’s The Flash (November 2022), and lastly James Wan’s Aquaman & The Lost Kingdom (December 2022).  Unlike last year ’s event, this 2021 DC conference does not have the schedule of the panels, so like it or not, we have to watch the entire event to see our most-anticipated ones. So, what are the good news that DC FanDome has given to the fans? Here is the recap for today’s event. Awesome things are on the way. (Note: I’m mostly recapping the ...

My Review on ‘The Suicide Squad’: Meet the Infamous Supervillain Bunch

Image
"What's the like? Living life as a punchline?" When Warner Bros. was not satisfied with the critics of the preceding Suicide Squad (2016), they didn’t joke around. Instead of creating a tight-to-its-predecessor sequel, they tried to revive what has been ‘dead’ and hired another director to helm the soft-reboot movie: a standalone sequel starring (almost) new faces, now hitting theaters and HBO Max under the title The Suicide Squad . At the moment, this movie is holding a solid 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Most critics praise its entertaining ride and gore elements that strengthen the movie. Directed by James Gunn as the DCEU’s 9th installment, is   The Suicide Squad   making its way up in the comic book movies industry? Directed by: James Gunn Written by: James Gunn Distributed by: Warner Bros. Pictures Running time: 132 minutes Rating: R Short synopsis of The Suicide Squad : Belle Reve never lets their worst prisoners to take a rest. Amanda Waller recruits he...

My Review on 'Black Widow': Unlock the Former Spy's Mysterious Past

Image
"I'm done running from my past." At last, the long-awaited MCU solo movie arrives! First introduced in Iron Man 2 (2010) under the name of Natalie Rushman. Once a spy and a former Avenger. Eleven years since her debut, the titular heroine finally gets her own solo movie that the fans always look forward to. Is this movie what the late Natalia Alianovna “Natasha Romanoff” Romanova deserves?  Currently certified fresh in Rotten Tomatoes with the score of 81% and audience score of 94%, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 24th installment  Black Widow  was initially a 2020 movie scheduled for an April release. It is then pushed back to July 9, 2021, now available in both big and small screen: theatres and Disney+. Directed by: Cate Shortland Written by: Jac Schaeffer, Ned Benson Distributed by: Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Running time: 134 minutes Rating: PG-13 Short synopsis of Black Widow : Taking place after the event of Captain America: Civil War (2016), Natasha Rom...

My Review on 'Godzilla vs. Kong': What's a King to a God?

Image
"Who bows to who?" Are you ready to witness the ultimate fight between the mega lizard and the giant monkey? One of my most-anticipated 2020 movies (formerly a 2020 movie, then it becomes a 2021 ’ s) finally makes its way out!  Godzilla vs. Kong  is currently playing on selected theatres and streaming service HBO Max. The blockbuster movie initially aimed for a November 2020 release but then got delayed for a March 31, 2021 release. It officially holds a fresh-from-the-oven review on Rotten Tomatoes with a 80%. Pretty neat, isn’t it? Now that I ’ ve watched the movie, I have several thoughts to share. Here we go… Directed by: Adam Wingard Written by: Terry Rossio, Michael Dougherty, Zack Shields Distributed by: Warner Bros. Pictures (US), Toho (JP) Running time: 113 minutes Rating: PG-13 Short synopsis of  Godzilla vs. Kong : When Godzilla goes rampage all of sudden, the humans begin to find the way out by themselves, which is a very brilliant idea to release the ...

My Review on 'Zack Snyder's Justice League': When Justice is Truly Served

Image
Four years already. Is it worth the wait? Or is it just a waste of time? Zack Snyder’s Justice League  has been through a lot of things (more like obstacles) since 2017. The movie underwent various production issues and rumors. Thankfully, it emerges to the surface on March 18, 2021 distributed by HBO Max, and I had the chance to watch it on HBO GO. Now debuts freshly on Rotten Tomatoes with a 78%,  Zack Snyder’s Justice League  has been called as a big improvement to its previous version, the 2017 theatrical release Justice League which garnered mixed reviews from both critics and moviegoers. A second chance surely suits on you, Zack! Directed by: Zack Snyder Written by: Chris Terrio, Zack Snyder, Will Beall Distributed by: HBO Max Running time: 242 minutes Rating: R (16+) Anyway, I won’t discuss much on this movie because I’m afraid I will spoil the movie to you. Here we go! Short synopsis of  Zack Snyder’s Justice League : After the beacon of Metropolis has died i...
